Good morning,An Elmira man will spend more than a decade in federal prison on drug and weapons charges. 32-year-old Kavon A. Wilson was sentenced to 12 years and seven months after being convicted of trafficking methamphetamine and possessing firearms tied to that operation. Authorities say when officers searched an Erie Street home, they found Wilson’s girlfriend on a couch holding an infant, with two other small children inside, as well as loaded handguns, large amounts of meth, cocaine and fentanyl, and more than 11-thousand dollars in cash.Drivers in the Elmira Heights area should plan ahead this week. The westbound on-ramp to I-86 at Exit 52B is set to close for repairs starting today between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. each day. The ramp is expected to reopen by May 1st, with detours posted via County Route 64.And a consumer alert for New York residents—gas-powered portable generators sold at major retailers including Costco, Home Depot and Lowe’s are being recalled over a potential fuel leak that could pose a fire risk.
